Rituals
site specific installation
The Rituals, presented at the tower of Akseli Gallen Kallela’s museum is one of the pieces picked by Narratives of Finland (suomentarinat), which explores the historical culture of Finland, examining what kinds of narratives about Finnishness are produced and how these stories are received. Who can and cannot identify with these narratives?.
Mobile installation is an homage to the surrounding landscape to Gallen Kallela’s home/studio. The surrounding nature as significant as the works of arts inside the museum are interwoven with the art that has been created here. The overall structure of the sculpture is inspired by the principle patterns of the Iranian rugs and the narratives formed around paradise often depicting nature through symbols and elements that engage the fantastical mind. The hanging landscape symbolizes elements in sustaining the equilibrium within nature. The core of This work is about creating intimacy and playing with our perception of space, self and identity.
